MLB Chicago Cubs vs Washington Nationals in Washington

  • The Washington Post reported on Monday that Dimitri Young is having a difficult time coming back from injury and is most likely finished as a Nat. While he certainly provided some great moments especially in 2007, his injuries were just too much to overcome. To read the full story click here.
  • Kudos to Austin Kearns for his game winning hit on Sunday!!  That hit was sorely needed for a player that had been hitting under .200  since May.  He may be the odd man out at the end of the season, but for a brief moment he was the man.  It was also great to see him being mobbed by his teammates.  They haven’t had a whole lot to get excited about, but here they are having won two series in a row!
  • A special thank you goes to the Pittsburgh Pirates for giving us Nyjer Morgan.  While he is turning in great plays in CF, bringing speed to the bases, and hitting well, Lastings Millidge is still in the Pirates minor league system playing for the Indianapolis Indians of Triple A.
  • The Nats open a series tonight (Monday) against the Brewers.  Craig Stammen will be pitching tonight.  He was impressive in his last outing against the Mets with a no-hitter through 4.  Let’s hope that continues.    The other probable pitchers are:  Balester on Tuesday, Mock on Wednesday, and JD Martin on Thursday.  The Brewers have stumbled lately, going 4-6, so this may be a good time for the Nats to win their 3rd series.
